African-American Rights

My first quarter of school ended recently and with it, social studies. In social studies, I learned about the beginning of our country. When our country started, there were slaves. I think slaves were a terrible thing because they were people who were kidnapped from their homes, from their families, and brought to a new land. In this new land, they were forced to work with no rewards. Luckily, Abraham Lincoln ended slavery. Still, there was segregation. People shouldn't be believed as lesser or not as smart for having a different skin color. It isn't fair and is a dumb thought.
